In its statement the company says: Soon you will be able to see a new row on Netflix with its own design that lets you see the most popular shows and movies in your country. Not only that, but the list will be updated daily. So, the position of the row will vary depending on your region and how relevant the shows are to you.
In addition to the row of popular content, you will be able to see the 10 most popular shows when you click on the movies and TV shows tabs. Each show will have a special “Top 10 badge” wherever they appear on the UI. That will allow you to see what’s most popular whether browsing through your personal list of by genre of content. The company first started experimenting with the lists in the UK and Mexico and is now rolling it out to more members. Previously Netflix had rows featuring both popular and trending content but didn’t rank them in order. The new Top 10 row will appear on the home screen but the actual position of the list will vary based on the relevance of the content is to you. Overall, this looks like a good move by the company.
